Hello, everybody! September is here, and fall officially arrives on the 23rd. I’m looking forward to it. I have another semi-short post for you all, with a few updates from around the shop. So, let’s go! — Austin
Sales & Events
In August, the shop brought in $96.3K - a 10% increase from last year! This is a reflection of everyone’s work, from the garage and marking room to the sales floor and everywhere in between. I really do appreciate the time and effort each of you puts in.
From September 22 through October 10, we will be hosting a quilting event! We’ll feature quilts of all kinds, including vintage and antique pieces, as well as quilt tops, fabrics, and all the quilting accessories you can imagine.
For our financial donors, our upcoming Donor Appreciation Open House will be held on Monday, September 28, from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the Shop. The event will include tours of USK, a tour and shopping experience at Uplift Thrift, and a catered light brunch.
Help Needed
We are currently looking for volunteers to help in two areas of the shop: Toys and Electronics.
Toy Area: Help sort, organize, and prepare donated toys for the sales floor.
Electronics Desk: Help organize, test, and prepare donated electronics for sale.
Both positions offer flexible hours, and we are happy to work with your availability. If you are interested in volunteering in either area, please come speak with me anytime. We would be happy to have you join us!
Register Reminders
We’ve had a few issues recently when closing the registers. Please keep these two things in mind:
1. Use the correct register login. The passwords are posted under each monitor: 1111 for the North register and 2222 for the South register.
2. Take care not to select the Assistance League profile. The North register should be logged in as Volunteer One, and the South register as Volunteer Two. Selecting the Assistance League profile creates a third register in the system, which can cause transactions to be assigned incorrectly during reconciliation.
Thank you for your continued support and dedication. Remembering these two steps will help us keep the registers accurate and make closing much easier!
Kudos Corner
For September, Steff and I want to recognize Susan Patterson. Susan has been a member here at Uplift since 2025, and she has quickly become involved. You can often see Susan in the front of the shop as our Floor Associate or Floater. She always has a kind and calm presence, even on the busiest days, which was especially helpful to me while I was still getting settled. I’ve also loved seeing how willing she is to step up when extra help is needed. This year, Susan began leading the Designer department, where she evaluates and marks our higher-end clothing. She is a dual member and is also part of the Bylaws Committee. Thank you, Susan, for being willing to lend a hand when we need it and for doing such a great job wherever you volunteer. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know you and seeing all that you bring to our organization.
VOLGISTICS: This is a video that the wonderful John Sager made. It contains detailed instructions on how to log in to Volgistics and more. PLEASE WATCH IF YOU NEED HELP LOGGING IN-
