January Shop Talk

Hello Lovely People,

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year! As the buzz of the holiday season dies down, we enter into a couple months of slow and steady progress. Spring cleaning and fresh blooms will be here before we know it.

This Shop Talk is both the first of the new year and the last edition I will write. If you haven’t heard yet, my final day at Uplift Thrift will be the 17th (more on that later).

For now, let’s jump into some info and updates as per usual.

Regular Meeting - TS Making Lunch!

Why am I Leaving?!

As many of you have heard, the time has come for me to say farewell to Uplift Thrift.

I want you to know that I am parting with so much love in my heart for this place and for all of you.

I am on to a very new adventure with my husband, Caleb. We recently purchased a Ford Transit van and will be spending the next few months converting it into our home so we can travel on the road for some time.

This has been a dream of ours for many years and we’re ecstatic to be making it a reality!

I want to say thank you for all of the love, patience, and encouragement you’ve given me over the past year and a half. This job has grown me for the better in so many ways.

I am here until the 17th and then I will most definitely be popping in over the next few months. (We’ve got a thing or two we might need to donate, haha).

I will truly miss this place.

Thank you for trusting me to be your Thrift Shop Manager.

All my love,

Abby

A Note from Steff

As we see Abby leave us to chase her dream, I want all volunteers to feel confident that we have an immediate plan to cover the shop.

This week an advertisement will be placed on the KSL website for the position. Our Human Resource folks and myself will start interviewing candidates for Shop Manager as soon as we receive applications.

In the very near future, I have a pre-planned vacation to visit Egypt.  I will be gone January 22 through February 6, 2026. During the interim of January 20 through February 6, Trish Oba will cover the shop as Acting Manager. She will also be responsible for staffing in the front of the store through Volgistics. If anyone is ill or unable to come in for their shift, please notify Trish....  801-633-0841.

In the donation center, if you are unable to come in for a shift, please contact Susan Erickson....801-864-1006.

I have no doubt that our volunteers along with Thomas and Emily will keep the shop and its operations afloat. As always, I thank you for your hard work in making our shop one of the best in Salt Lake City.

I look forward to 2026 and our continuing teamwork.

That is all I have for January.

Again, thank you.

Over and out.
